PROFILE OF DR. FELIX OGAR TAKIM
Dr. Takim was born at Bashua-Boki, Cross River State on 3rd January, 1978. He attended Government Science School, Kafin-Madaki, Bauchi, University of Calabar and University of Ilorin, Nigeria. He holds the following Degrees: B. Agric. (Crop Science), M.Sc. and Ph.D. Agronomy (Weed Science). His research focuses on ecological weed management and promoting stress tolerant maize and sugarcane varieties across Nigeria ecologies.
He is currently the Acting Director, Unilorin Sugar Research Institute and he had served recently as Member, Unilorin Environmental Protection Committee, Postgraduate Coordinator and Examination Officer, Department of Agronomy, and Faculty of Agriculture Representative to Boards of two Academic Faculties.
He has participated in several research assignments across the country. Currently: Collaborating Scientist: Stress Tolerant Maize for Africa; National Crop Research projects-Sugarcane; and CFC/ISO/West Africa Sugar Development Project. He is member of the SESA/ESMF Team for the REDD+ Nigeria.
He was a Visiting Scholar at United Nations University, Institute for Natural Resource in Africa (UNU-INRA), Accra Ghana in 2015. He is a member of Weed Science Society of Nigeria, Crop Science Society of Nigeria and Sugarcane Technologist Society of Nigeria.
He is teaching several courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels at Department of Agronomy, successfully supervised several Projects and Theses and he has over 30 published journal articles to his credit. He has attended several trainings and conferences.
