Dr. (Mrs.) Muinat Amoke OBALOWU was born at Ilorin, Kwara State on the 20th day of October 1950. She attended St. Matthew’s Catholic Primary and Middle Schools. She proceeded for her secondary Education at Our Lady of Apostles’ Secondary School, Ho, Ghana and Holy Child Training College, Takoradi, Ghana where she obtained Post- Secondary Teachers’ Certificate ‘A’. She later proceeded to Specialist Training College, (now University of Education), Winneba, Ghana for her Teachers’ Diploma in Home Economics Education. At Ohio University, Athens, Ohio, USA she obtained her Bachelor and Masters degrees in Home Economics Education. She attended University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria for her PhD degree in Home Economics Education. Dr. Mrs. Obalowu is a specialist in Home Economics/ Home Management.
Before joining the service of University of Ilorin on 25th of November 2008, she taught at Ansarul lslam secondary school (1979-1989), Baboko community secondary school (1989-1991) and Taoheed secondary school in (1991-1993) where she held the posts of vice principal and principal respectively. She later transferred her service to the Government House from 1993-1995 where she headed the catering department. She joined the International Women Communication Center (IWCC) an NGO from 1995-2008 where she worked as a programme officer.
She has attended several conferences, workshops, seminars and trainings. Dr. M.A. Obalowu is married with children.
