Dr. T.O. Amusa is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Forest Resources Management, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ilorin. He was born on 23rd December, 1980. He hails from Tede in Atisbo Local Government Area of Oyo State. He attended Oduduwa Primary School, Iloro-Agege, Lagos State, Oniwaya High School, Lagos State, and University of Ibadan, Ibadan.  He holds BSc, MSc and PhD in Forest Resources Management with specialization in Forest Economics and Management. He also holds certificate courses in Tropical Ecology and Conservation, Plant Tissue Culture and Micro-propagation and Geographical Information System.

Before joining the services of University of Ilorin, Dr. Amusa worked as a Lecturer/Research Scientist at the Federal College of Wildlife Management, New-Bussa under the aegis of Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN), from 2005 to 2011. He came in as one of the pioneer academic staff of the Department of Forest Resources Management. He has covered virtually all duties in the Department. He was involved in the development of the Departmental Courseware and served as Coordinator of the Practical Year Training Programme. He was a member of the University’s Governing Board of Resort; Member, Plantation Management Board and; Secretary, Date-Palm Plantation Management Committee. He is currently Course Level Adviser; Examination Coordinator, as well as the Departmental Representative on several committees within and outside the Faculty. He is the Representative of Faculty of Agriculture at the Technical and Entrepreneurship Centre (TEC). In addition, he is a member of the Technical Committee, Regional Centre of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development, Ilorin (RCE- Ilorin).

Dr. Amusa has participated in several research and development projects. He served as a research fellow (2015-2016) with the African Forest Forum  to undertake the work on "Forest compatible development through improved forest governance, green growth and enhanced forest productivity for sustainable livelihoods and environmental stability in Africa" in Nairobi, Kenya. He has received academic awards from such bodies as the Nigerian Field Society (2001, 2003), the African Association of Remote Sensing of the Environment (2002), the Federal Government of Nigeria (2003) and the Prof. D.U.U. Okali prize in Ecological Survey, Biodiversity Conservation and Natural Resources Management, Department of Forest Resources Management, University of Ibadan (2004).

He is a member of many Academic and Professional Associations including the African Forest Forum (AFF), Commonwealth Forestry Association (CFA), Ecological Friendly Society (ECOFRIENDS), Nigerian Tropical Biology Association (NTBA), Forestry Association of Nigeria (FAN) and Nigeria Conservation Foundation (NCF) among others. He served as the Africa Section Representative (Ecological Economics Working Group), Society for Conservation Biology between 2012 and 2014.

Dr. Amusa continues to make very significant contributions to the smooth running of the Department. He has taught several undergraduate courses, either singly or jointly with other academic staff. He has successfully supervised a number of students’ project at the University. He is a very effective teacher who gives due consideration to the special needs of his students.
