PROFESSOR LATEEF OLOYEDE TIAMIYU (aka LOT)
Professor Tiamiyu, popularly known and called by many as Prof. LOT was born at Offa, Kwara State on 25th October, 1957. He attended Government Secondary School (GSS) Ilorin (1873-1976). Similarly, he attended Kwara State School of Technology, Ilorin, University of Ibadan, Ibadan and Federal University of Technology, Minna. He holds the following degrees: B.Sc. Fisheries Management (Upper Credit Division), M.Sc. Fisheries Management and Ph.D. (Aquaculture Nutrition and Management).
He had spent about thirty (30) years in the University system. Before joining University of Ilorin in 2016, he had worked at the University of Agriculture, Makurdi from 1990 to 2016 where he rose from the rank of Assistant Lecturer to Professor. He was a visiting scholar (on sabbatical) at the Micheal Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State from 2011-2013.
He has served the two Universities (Makurdi and Ilorin) in various capacities. He served in more than fifty (50) committees/boards and chaired some of them. He was two terms Dean, College of Forestry and Fisheries, University of Agriculture, Makurdi 2006 to 2010. He also served as External Examiner to some Universities at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
He has successfully supervised more than one hundred (100) undergraduates Projects, thirty (30) M.Sc. Dissertations and ten (10) Ph.D. Thesis. Similarly, he has served as resource person for NUC-Accreditation exercises and assessor for many Readership and Professorial assessments from various Universities. Recently and currently, he is serving as pioneer Head, Department of Aquaculture and Fisheries.
He is happily married with children. His hobby are reading and football.
