Philosophy

The Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ilorin shall provide theoretically sound and practical education that would facilitate the development of human resources in Agriculture and related disciplines at the fulfillment of the stipulated requirements in learning and character and would graduate in the desired field of specialization. Specifically, all the programs at the Faculty are geared towards the production of graduates who are adequately equipped with the comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for engaging in the productive sector of the economy, especially agricultural production, forestry, and fisheries among others. The objectives of the programs are to produce graduates geared towards self-employment; graduates with sufficient technical, productive, and entrepreneurship skills that will be involved in the production, research, and entrepreneurship in any aspect of agriculture and other related disciplines, and to produce graduates useful for themselves, relevant to the industry and society, and who can contribute effectively to national development goals. The Faculty is equipped with a 600-capacity lecture theatre, a 300-capacity lecture hall, one 150-capacity, and three 100-capacity classrooms, as well as two other smaller ones seven research laboratories with adequate facilities, two nursery pavilion, two screen houses, a teaching and research farm, a food processing center and a creche.
